It’s believed they were first formed close to 500 million years ago within the shallows of a seabed. Buried beneath layers of sediments, it’s believed they were formed by the meeting of pyrite, silicon dioxide, dolomite, and calcite. These diamonds would have been formed in pockets of bedrock where the small quartz crystals bloomed to life.
